SPS Italian Wine Tasting
SINA December 2013
Thinking about wine , you will firstly think about France, a long history of wine production wine kingdom laid it in place ! However, a recent research from EurekAlert has found that although French wines are well-known, the real origin of wine comes from Italy. Italian and French wines have thousands years of history and they are in continuous comparison. Different wine lovers continue their self-improvement during wine tasting by constantly adjusting their own preferences. About natural conditions, the Italian grape -producing area is in the south, France in the north. In the north grapes mature slowly, while in the south the maturation is faster and therefore Italian wines have a higher alcoholic degree. But this is just a common sense, Italian and French wines have both their own characteristics and their own magic, cannot be generalized. From a price perspective, French wines have widespread fame, might be sold at higher prices because of their brand. On the contrary, the Italian smaller wineries produce wine at a more acceptable price, even though quality is not inferior
During the wine tasting organized by SPS, four Italian wine makers gathered at Shanghai Science Hall JE mansion, the "art" and "wine" combined during the "Art Without Boundary " event, an occasion for wine lovers to taste four high-quality wines from Italy. The wine makers are: CASTELLO DI GABIANO; VILLA I CIPRESSI; SCIALLETTI; PIRRO VARONE. These wineries, although their four different wine making methods, produce wines with a lovely acidity, balanced and harmonious taste, with a fragrance of fresh fruit flowers and give a refreshing sensation to the palate. During the wine tasting event "Art without Boundary” a classical musician from China performed Jazz music. The Western banquet in conjunction with Chinese music has created an exclusive combination of food and wine tasting accompanied by art.
It is worth mentioning that these four wineries belong to SPS wine company selection. SPS started the importation to China of Scialletti wines and then selected several other wineries from Italy. Scialletti winery started brewing the best wines in 1888, and its five generations have always been dedicated to wine production. In 2001, Scialletti family got their first international award; the award went to their wine St. Mark's (Sammarco Wine) - the oldest of the Abruzzo region in central Italy wine.
