The project was launched in 1985. 57 varieties of grapes have been analysed during 3 years of studies and the team understood how each grape variety interacts with the territory. The aim of the project was to understand how the overall quality of the wine production process in the area could be improved through the analysis of the existing ecosystem and its potential for development. The European community recognized the successful outcome of Casale del Giglio's research project by authorizing the cultivation of the recommended international grape varieties such as chardonnay, sauvignon, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and syrah in the province of Latina city.
